Urban island

In the chaotic realm of the city of acre there are buildings that captures an open space within them. One of them, han-al omdan, as described in Ada Carmi's book: "Architecture in palestine during the british mandate, 1917-1948", is creating an island of order that keeps the messed up geometry of the "kasba" outside his walls. That image of a safe place within an unorganized reality is a good example of what I wish to create in my project, as it reflects the emergence of uncertainty into our everyday life as technology and smartphones take over our basic understanding of the world, and the need for a safe territory that we need to have in order to stay sane.

VERTICES AND ARCS

This artwork by Kumi Yamashita demonstrate a way of creating identity through a simple links of dots to one another. This line of thought can lead to an infrastructural design which use simple and strict planning tools to use as a base for diversity and unexpected use of space.
